Tucker Goes After Former Obama Official Over G7 Summit

Fox News host Tucker Carlson argued with former Obama State Department official David Tafuri over the U.S.’s relationship with Russia Friday.

WATCH:

“David, this sounds like something liberals used to say during the Cold War, it’s better to be at the table talking than not to be, why is that not true now?” Carlson asked.

Tafuri said that sentiment was “still true,” but that the G7 platform was an odd place for President Trump to make a comment that Russia should be involved in the summit.

Both Carlson and Tafuri debated the relations between the U.S. and Russia, as well as the U.S. and other neighboring countries. Carlson probed Tafuri as to why Russia was such a big threat when the U.S. has to worry about the immediate threats posed by an unsecure border, to which Tafuri responded Russia is “trying to intefere with our democracy.”

Carlson then asked if Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin is a threat to the U.S. because he is from Russia and has a friendly relationship with Putin. Tafuri said Ovechkin was not any type of threat, saying that his praise of Putin was nothing to worry about.
